August 19, 2015 ~ Update
Hello peoples! It’s been a wild and crazy summer. Hope yours has been good. There are a few pieces of information that I would like to share with you.
First of all we want to welcome all of the new followers on our Facebook page. We’re up to 1,183, that’s pretty cool! We also have new Blog and Twitter followers. A big Welcome to everyone!
The other day I received a note from Ben Miller, the guy in charge at the MDA. He wanted to remind us that all of the cottage food folks who are selling their baked goods and other non-hazardous products in the Farmer’s Markets, need to have their registration with them and their sign that states, “These foods are homemade and not subject to state inspection.” There will be people working with the MDA who will be checking this.
If you haven’t registered yet, please do. It’s important that we follow the laws we campaigned so hard to have passed. Please be sure to have your food labeled correctly whenever you sell your product. Also be sure that your websites and Facebook pages clearly state, “These foods are homemade and not subject to state inspection.”
Work is still in progress to update the MDA website and the MFMA website with as much information and answers to questions as possible. As things progress please keep an eye on these websites for changes and additions. You can also find them on Facebook by their names. The website links are below:
Once again we want to give a big shout out and thanks to everyone continuing to work on our cottage food law. We greatly appreciate all of the hardworking folks at the MFMA and MDA who are writing all this up for our easy understanding. A thank you to all of our representatives who are still standing by to answer questions and help where they can. The law may have passed but the work is most certainly not finished.
