Tidbit Tuesday ~ Cupcake Liners

Cup cake papers became popular after WWI. At first they were used for serving cup cakes, not baking them. In the 1930s popular home economists suggested baking cup cakes in paper cases. My guess is one day someone thought, let’s cut corners and see if we can bake the cake right in the serving cup. Hey! It works! Thus the cupcake liner was born.

In the 1970’s we had the white or pastel colored cupcake liners. However, as the years have progressed and cupcakes have become more and more popular, cupcake papers have changed drastically. Now they come in many different shapes, colors, and sizes. Whatever creative minds can design.
