We want to thank everyone who was able to attend yesterday’s meeting. We especially appreciate Rep. Newberger and Sen. Brown for taking time out of their busy schedules to meet with us. It was a pretty long meeting with a lot of information to process. I will try to sum it up in as few words as I can.
We will be working on making a few revisions to the previous bill that was submitted and will post it for you all to see when it is finished. But until we can accomplish anything with the bill, there is a lot of ground work to be completed by all of us first.
It is very important to discover who your district reps are and if they are on any of the committees that impact us, such as the Agriculture or Grocers Committee’s, it will be up to you to meet with them and gain their support. We will be posting a graph of which committee member is in which district. I cannot express this enough. They will only listen to their own constituents.
During the months of Oct. & Nov. will be a good time to have bake sales and raise awareness for our cause. We will be posting a flyer that you will be able to download and print out for your customers. If you make enough money consider a $100.00 contribution to your district reps, letting them know that the Minnesota Cottage Food Law people are supporting them and would appreciate their vote.
In January it will be important to start contacting your district representatives and reminding them of this bill. State your reasons for asking for it and ask for their support. We will be putting together some basic talking points for you to use in those meetings if you would like to.
Session begins on Feb. 29th. Once that happens things will move fairly quickly. We need to be organized before then. In order for us to organize we need to be contacted, as soon as possible, by all of you who are willing to help out by going to the capital and meeting with each of the representatives and senators, and who are willing to attend the committee hearings. Please send us your info via the message box on our Facebook page. Thanks!
